I wrote this while I was working in the UAE. One weekend journey to Oman was the catalyst.....the place is so beautiful and so strange. Because of the heat everything happens at night and so seems inside out and dreamlike.....I was embroiled in the break up of a marriage so the gulf is a real reference to place and to that last desperate attempt to step back from the emptiness
